IN THE MAKING

When I started painting — or maybe it’s more honest to say when I returned to painting — I made a quiet promise to myself. This time, I wouldn’t chase perfection. I wouldn’t hold myself to outcomes, or measure my worth by the finished piece. I would ask only for progress. For presence.

This time around, it’s not about the result. It’s about staying with the practice. Creating small rituals. Giving myself space — and grace — to enjoy what I’m doing for me.

I’m learning that so much of art is not about knowing exactly what you’re doing. It’s about showing up anyway. Letting curiosity lead. Letting breath guide brush.

Sometimes you start with a clear image in mind. Sometimes you don’t. But either way, the work reveals itself as you go. The beauty is in the becoming.

This is my process: one brushstroke at a time, I breathe creation into being. Not because I know how it will end, but because I trust the act of beginning.
